We are all natives of nature, and it has its own forces to stay in harmony. Vaastu says the sources of energy are to be open and the flow of energy not to be disturbed. It is based on the idea that everything in the universe is made up of five basic elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Vaastu believes that there are essentially two types of forces, which are equal and opposite in nature. The interaction of these two forces is cosmically ordained and produces a third type of force, which is called ‘Bio-Force’ or ‘Prana’, needed for life to exist. One type of force is positive, and the other is negative. Prana’ is liberated by the interaction of these forces.
It aims to bring peace, harmony, prosperity, and happiness to a home by aligning it with the earth’s magnetic field, the sun’s path, the wind direction, the light energy, and the cosmic energy, keeping the law of nature in harmony with the love of architecture.
Body as a magnetic pole:
The nervous system of the human body communicates with the help of electric impulses, which produce an electromagnetic field around the body. So, the entire human body is the net result of so many tiny magnetic fields distributed within the whole body, and the heaviest part of the human body, the head, acts as the North Pole. If we sleep keeping our heads to the north, the north pole of the earth and head will repel, which affects blood circulation and leads to disturbed sleep and connected problems.
Rotation of the earth:
We are continuously traveling with the earth with all our belongings in a north-east direction, constantly at a speed of 1670 kilometers per hour. So, if we keep moving in opposite directions, we will face friction.
Nature:
‘Miracles do not happen in contradiction to nature but only to that which is known to nature.' -Saint Augustine
You cannot see the energy in action, but you can see and realize its effects. You feel different energies at different places, like temples, libraries, and pubs. But why do different places convey different energies to our bodies?
Vaastu Shastra is based on three principles of design; even modern architecture follows these.
Bhogadaya: The designed premise must be easily useful.
Sukha Darsha: The designed premise must be aesthetically pleasing.
Ramya: The designed premise should evoke a feeling of well-being.
Go with gravity.
